Costa Rica -- Ellensburg Alliance Church -- February 2009

Located in Central America, Costa Rica is a small, but beautiful country full of beautiful tropical rain forests filled with exotic plants and animals. Ticos, the affectionate term they call themselves, are know for their friendliness and place a huge value on relationships. Although, Costa Rica is a religious nation, many have been disillusioned by their religious leader. Many need to know the freedom which comes with a personal relationship with Jesus. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with these incredible people as you partner with local pastors and ministries.

You will have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on orphan children by meeting their real and practical needs.

Participants on this trip will have the opportunity to do ministry in the following areas:

  • Children’s ministry
  • Helping at an orphanage
  • Visiting local family churches
  • Women’s project
  • Light construction or work projects

When is the Trip?
Trip dates are approximately February 4-18, 2009.

What is the Cost for the Trip?
The estimated cost for this trip is $1,800. A non refundable deposit of $250 is due October 15, 2008. When you fill out an online application, please send in payment. Final Payment is due on December 15, 2008.

What is included in the price?
Airfare, local transportation, food, accommodations, medical insurance, training, supplies, an experienced guide, and more.

What documentation is needed?
We have three things we need from each participant: A trip application, a liability release, and a photocopy of your passport. The trip application can be filled out online and submitted. The liability release must be printed, signed, and sent to Footsteps Missions along with the photocopy of your passport. If you prefer we can also fax or mail these forms to you. If you prefer we can also fax or mail these forms to you. Don't forget that for anyone under the age of 18 the liability release must be signed by parents or guardians also.

Are Passports Required? How about Visas?
Passports are required, but not Visas for this trip (unless you are not a US citizen with a US passport). Any participants under 18 must have a notarized letter from both parents showing approval for going with group if one or both parents are not accompanying them.

What are the accommodations like?
We will be staying in dorm like facilities or lesser hotels.

What airline are we using?
Airline information and schedules will be shared approximately 1 month prior to the trip.

What about vaccinations or immunizations?
This is a very important question for those going to third world countries and it is critical to take every precaution. The Center for Disease Control has recommendations for countries around the world. Note that some medications may need to be taken well before a trip and some require that you take medications even after you return. Please be sure to consult your local doctor regarding any medical requirements.

What about training and preparations?
There will be training sessions prior to the trip. You will be contacted via e-mail or by phone when these will be held.
