completed? How does one ensure that the team will
be prepared effectively? This workshop will take
you through a timeline for preparing your team so
they are ready to make maximum impact!!
Recruiting Your
Team
You may have a service partner,
dates, and even estimated cost ready but without a
team you won't be able to meet the need expressed.
This workshop will take you through some tools that
can help you to present the need, motivate people,
and maximize the potential for having a quality
group of people serving abroad.
Bio: Daryl Smithgall is the
President of Footsteps Missions, an organization
designed to help make short term mission
experiences easier, more cost effective, and with
quality perpetration of servants. Daryl has been in
over 40 countries around the world and has led more
than 50 teams. He has also worked as a youth pastor
and worship leader in multiple churches.

Back the Veil on Short Term Missions
We will look at spiritual warfare in
short-term missions. What is the enemy up too? What
should we be up too? Preparing for battle.
Building Bridges: Cultivating
Good Relationships with your Hosts
Whether you and your group are being
hosted by a missionary or a national, you can bet
that their thinking is different from yours. This
will be a general overview of what your host may
struggle with, and how to work more effectively
with them.
Bio: Shaun and his wife,
Maria, have been missionaries for over twenty years
in Mexico. Shaun and Maria have made short-term
missions a part of their ministry by both accepting
hundreds of visiting groups into their ministries,
as well as leading many group to other countries
around the world. They are currently based out of
San Diego where Shaun is the director of Rama de
Olivo, and works closely with Footsteps Missions as
both a leader and board member. Meanwhile Maria
supports the ministry and home schools their two
boys, Jeremy and Josh.

Teaching Strategies with Jesus
as the Model
The greatest teacher is Jesus,
studying how He teaches improves a teachers
presentation of material. Working with all ages of
children or adults, the teaching strategies that
Jesus modeled will make the material presented more
challenging.
Service Preparation
Preparation for a mission trip begins
weeks before the trip. A well planned trip will
assist in facilitating a successful mission. The
workshop will give you hints of organization and a
to do list for a trip.
Bio: Charlotte Jones has been
volunteering as a short term leader with Footsteps
for about three years. Her years of experience as a
teacher is a valuable asset to Footsteps as she has
directed multiple Cross Cultural Learning Camps and
developed quality cirriculum and programs for these
camps. Charlotte is an active and loving mother and
grandmother. When she is not involved with
Footsteps projects and trips, she helps with the
teaching program as Simpson University and conducts
California tours for 5th graders.

Meetings
Do you want to know how to make the
most of your training times with your Team? In
this workshop you'll learn how to lead an effective
training meeting that will help to prepare your
Team emotionally, spiritually and relationally.
We'll explore what to do before the meeting, during
the meeting, and how to most effectively follow up
after the meeting.
Support Raising 101
You've got the Team assembled, your
ministry plans in place, and you've already
communicated with your partners overseas, but still
one major thing remains: finances. How do you help
your Team members get the funds necessary for their
trips? In this workshop we'll discuss some tried
and true methods for support raising as well as
provide some practical tools for you and your Team
to use.

About Unity
Bio: Dave Schultz has been
helping lead Footsteps trips for about 3 years. He
has worked with about 9 different groups of teams
and is continuously amazed at how God brings His
teams together. Dave loves seeing how God
challenges and grows the team over the course of
their service. Dave was recently married to Becky,
Footsteps' administrative assistant.

Medical Issues
This workshop
will walk you through some of the most common
medical issues that short term teams face and how,
you as a leader, can be best prepared for them.
This will give information on insurance
alternatives and suggestions for medicine that will
help supplement the areas lacking in most medical
kits.
Conflict
Resolution
Conflicts are
inevitable on a short-term trip. As a leader you
will need to defuse situations. This seminar will
give you some tips and tricks for helping you to
deal with interpersonal relations gone awry. Since
one of your team's biggest witnesses is how you
relate with each other, understanding more how you
can keep your team working together is
critical!!
Bio:
Fonda Hart spent about 6 years in the Arab
Muslim world with Arab World Ministries. Upon her
return to the US she pursued a masters degree
in counseling, though her passion for missions
never waned. She currently works at Link Care
Counseling Center, providing therapy for
missionaries. Fonda has been involved in several
short-term missions trips and currently leads
occasional medical trips into Romania.

efficiently?). Which ones are truly helpful and

luggage? This workshop will show you some of the
best travel aids that will help you both personally
and in your service assignments.
