Noah's Barnyard Scramble
Materials Checklist
- Index card for each child
- Felt Pen
- Animal Stickers (Optional) (Oriental Trading)
Preparation
Divide verse into phrases of two or three words each. Letter each phrase on a separate index card. Make three identical sets of verse cards. Next, draw a sheep on each card in first set. Draw a pig on each card in second set. Draw a cow on each card in third set. (Optional: Use animal stickers instead of drawing on cards.) Shuffle all cards together.
Procedure
Give one card to each child. Allow time for children to look at their cards. At the teacher's signal the children wander around the room making the animal noises indicated on their cards. By listening to animal noises, the children find and gather with like animals. Once complete groups have gathered, members hold cards up to so verse is in the correct order. Groups make their animal sounds to signal they are finished. If time allows, collect cards and redistribute to repeat game.
