. .. .. .. .. /.		Making a Difference Fundraiser What is the fundraiser? It is a community service fundraiser in which individuals work together as a team and go to the church and the community to get sponsorship to do various community service projects for a Saturday (8 hours). The sponsors write down on sheets how much they are willing to sponsor the group (not the individual) to do projects like helping with project read at the local library, taking some blind kids on a field trip, cleaning up the parks, cleaning up a cemetery, helping at a mentally impaired facility, or helping Crisis Pregnancy Center. How do you set it up? Here is a tentative timeline for making this fundraiser happen. What needs to be taken care of When it should happen Arrange a date for the service day & set up service opportunities 3 months before service date Prepare Sponsorship Sheets* Prepare Explanation Cards* Set up Database for keeping track of Donations Set up dates to take kids out for getting sponsors Arrange with Police Departments from the Community to get solicitation permits for group Arrange for driving of individuals both for getting sponsors and the service day 2 months before service date Announce Fundraiser in Church with Goal/s Encourage church members to take a sponsorship sheet themselves Have participants at highly visible table to introduce the fundraiser Take participants out to get sponsors* 2 months before service date Confirm Plans with organizations being served Continue Getting Sponsors Have table & announce fundraiser to the church for last 3 weeks before fundraiser 3 weeks before service day Send out letters to sponsors showing amount pledged and thanking them for support Include a self-addressed envelope Within 1-2 weeks after Service Day * There are three other documents already created for each of these- Sponsorship Sheets, Explanation Cards for the Community, and Pledge Cards for the Church. Note that the underlined sections in these documents need to be changed and the underlines eliminated. **These are optional things that can help your group to raise significantly more funds.
